The Final Straw

I've been in contact with Double Diamond and White Bluff Resorts management/customer service departments.

I have filed complaints against White Bluff Resort, aka Double Diamond Resort Properties.
They have tried to ignore me.  They have lied to me.  They have made piddeling offers to appease me.

The lies continue and I feel like they don't care about what is happening.  So, I guess I will try to spread the word as to what happend to me, in the hope that others won't fall for the same thing.

The saga continues, and the lies change

Please look at the previous posts to see the beginning of the story.

After having White Bluff Resort cancel our appointment twice, I asked the person who called to cancel the last time to have customer service call me.  After waiting a week, no one had called, so I called them.  Customer service is apparently based with Eagle Rock Resort in Pennsylvania, and they answer the phone "Double Diamond".

The story got interesting.

as a recap:

The first time they canceled, I was told they had to cancel because we did not meet the "new" qualifications that had changed.  They had changed after I received the offer in the mail, and after I had called to make the appointment.  When I made the appointment, the lady asked me if I met the qualification's, and went over them with me.

Then, apparently after I complained, they 'allowed me' to make a second appointment based on the original qualifications.  3 days before the appointment, they called to cancel it because this time I was told that people had called in sick.

Now, when I called customer service, I was told by the woman that the offer had been sent to me by mistake.  That the mailing company had sent it without authorization,  and they did not market to our area.

I asked why none of the other 3 times I had talked to people from Double Diamond, or White Bluff no one had  a problem with where I lived.  She  didn't have a good reason for it.   When I told her the sequence of events, and what had been said by the people who called, she got quiet and said she would have to check on it and call me back.  That was yesterday morning.   She promised to call me back yesterday afternoon.

I'm still waiting on that call.

I can't come up with any reason for all the cancellations, and different stories I'm being told other than White Bluff, AKA Double Diamond Properties is trying to keep me from receiving the free gift they offered.  This based on the fact that I was honest with them when I have spoken to them and told them we would not be likely to buy anything.

I hope people hear about my complaint against White Bluff Resort aka Double Diamond Resort Properties.  It seems the free golf club offer is a scam.  Looks like bait and switch to me.

White Bluff Resort on Lake Whitney Texas

My opinion of Double Diamond Resort Properties, including Eagle Rock Resort in PA, The Cliffs Resort on Possum Kingdom Lake TX, The Retreat at Cleburn TX, White Bluff Resort on Lake Whitney TX, and Rock Creek Resort on Lake Texhoma.

My story, all true, started when my wife and I received an offer in the mail from White Bluff Resort on Lake Whitney Texas. The offer was that in return for taking a 2 hour tour of the property, we would receive 2 sets of golf clubs free of charge. Not just any golf clubs, they were specific. We were to receive a set of Top Flite XL 5000 mens, and a set of Top Flite XL ladies.

I called White Bluff and spoke to a woman on the phone. I told her honestly up front that we were not interested in property, but we would come and take a tour for the free clubs. (That might have been my mistake) I inquired as to how much it would end up costing me to get the 'free' clubs, and what was the catch. I was repeatedly assured that they were indeed 100% free, not taxes, no handling fee, no shipping, nothing.

I made the appointment, and while on the phone the woman made sure I met the requirements that I had been sent with the offer in the mail. Below I have copied and pasted them:
QUALIFICATIONS
1. You or your spouse (if married) must be between the ages 32-65 years of age and have a combined annual income of at least $80,000. If single, you must have an annual income of at least $80,000.
2. If married, you and your spouse must visit and take a tour of the property together. Tour time is approximately 2 hours.
3. You are ineligible to receive a gift if you have visited White Bluff Resort, The Cliffs Resort, The Retreat and/or Rock Creek for any promotional offer.
4. You cannot have purchased a home within the past 12 months.
5. Present or previous owners of property in Double Diamond developments are ineligible.
6. This offer is in lieu of all other promotions. One promotional offer per vehicle, family or household.

After being agreeing that I met the requirements, she told me they would send and email confirmation for the appointment, and to bring it with me.

Later that day, I received a call from another woman with the properties, asking if I were indeed coming, and if I had received the E-mail. I told her I had not checked, but would shortly and yes we were coming. When I checked the E-mail, I saw that the qualifications had changed. From the email, I copied and pasted below with the changes highlighted:
QUALIFICATIONS
1. You or your spouse (if married) are between the ages of 32 - 65, gainfully employed and have a combined or single annual income of at least $90,000 and maintain a good credit history.
2. If married, you and your spouse must visit and take a tour of the property together. Tour time is 2 hours.
3. You are ineligible to receive a gift if you have visited White Bluff Resort, The Cliffs Resort, The Retreat and/or Rock Creek for any promotional offer.
4. You cannot have purchased a home within the past 12 months or have any children in college.
5. Present or previous owners of property in Double Diamond developments are ineligible.
6. This offer is in lieu of all other promotions. One promotional offer per vehicle, family or household.

Now, the increased income and credit issue was not an issue. However, the child in college qualification was. See, I have my oldest son in college. Why would that matter? Not sure, so I called the woman who had last called me to confirm. I asked about the changes as was told that was the new requirements that had changed after the last mailing. I complained that I had been made an offer, rearranged schedules to make an appointment, and had been 'pre-qualified' on the phone when I called. She said she would have to cancel our appointment.

I guess they are discriminating against people who have college students as children.

More to the story of Double Diamond

My opinion of Double Diamond Resort Properties.

Double Diamond Resorts, AKA Double Diamond Properties own and manage Eagle Rock Resort in PA, The Cliffs Resort on Possum Kingdom Lake TX, The Retreat at Cleburn TX, White Bluff Resort on Lake Whitney TX, and Rock Creek Resort on Lake Texhoma.

Continuations of the previous story:

I was upset and disappointed, I admit. We had been offered something, and when we tried to claim it, they changed the requirements so we could not.

I decided to do something about it. Not that it would do any good, but I would complain so that maybe someone else wouldn't have to deal with liars.

I found the Better Business Bureau on line and filed a complaint. I figured maybe some savvy person might look up the business to see if any complaints had been filed. The next day, the BBB called me to say they had received the complaint and would forward it to White Bluff Resort. They had 10 days to respond.

Low and behold, the next day I was called by someone with Double Diamond, this time from a number showing to be Eagle Rock in PA. The woman (again a different woman than I had talked to before) said that "the corporate office" had instructed her to call me and allow me to tour based on the original qualifications that were sent in the mailer. She even sent me a new email confirmation with the original qualifications in it. I asked if there would be any problem at the resort, since they were operating on the 'new' ones. Again I was assured, repeatedly, that no there would be no problems, just show up and everything would be fine.

Now, imagine that I was not surprised to receive a message to call the resort yesterday on the phone. I called and was told that they would have to cancel our appointment (again). This time, because people had 'called in sick'.

Imagine, calling in sick 2 days in advance! And on a holiday weekend. I wonder if they canceled every one's appointment and just shut the place down, or was it only the people who were honest with them and told them they would likely not buy anything and only wanted the free gift we had been offered.

So, at this point I can honestly say that Double Diamond Resorts Properties have made offers of free gifts to me, and then changed the requirements to keep from giving them out. They also canceled appointments twice so as not to give out the offered gifts.

I would advise everyone to watch out for
Double Diamond Resorts, AKA Double Diamond Properties own and manage Eagle Rock Resort in PA, The Cliffs Resort on Possum Kingdom Lake TX, The Retreat at Cleburn TX, White Bluff Resort on Lake Whitney TX, and Rock Creek Resort on Lake Texhoma.

I don't trust them. They have lied to me.

Please, leave comments. I will respond. Tell me your horror stories.
